Tower Bridge Closure

Posted on August 30, 2016 at 12:25 pm

Tower Bridge is to undergo major maintenance works resulting in its closure to traffic for up to three months this autumn/winter.

Transport for London warned the works will require a full closure of the bridge to all vehicle and cycle traffic from Saturday 1 October 2016 to Friday 30 December 2016. The closure will be in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Pedestrians will be able to use the bridge to cross except for three weekends – dates to be confirmed.

If you are a business and make regular door to door deliveries around this area, why not consider using cargo bikes to beat the likely impact these major essential works will cause in surrounding roads? Although cycle traffic will also be diverted – deliveries are likely to be quicker and more efficient with a cargo bike than with a van. In addition, a cargo bike can easily be walked and pushed on the pavement across the bridge without the need to divert towards London Bridge. Cargo bikes can carry loads up to 100kgs/220lbs plus rider. They allow to park just outside your chosen destination. Other benefits include:

  • low purchase and running costs – no driving licence needed, reduced insurance costs, no congestion charges, no parking fees.
  • No CO2 emissions or noise pollution.
  • Fast, stable and safe, easy to manoeuvre and park.
  • Well-being and health benefits for staff operating them

At London Green Cycles, we provide cargo bicycle solutions specific to every customers’ needs, including full customisation and branding, to a broad range of traders and professionals across various industries.
