What are the main differences between 2 and 3 wheelers? Which is better?

3 wheels

  • generally offer more space in cargo box
  • can climb uphills without having to worry about the balance
  • have the added advantage of stability when stopping and starting: you never have to put your foot on the ground
  • can be easily pushed in pedestrianised areas with all your children/ cargo inside
  • are faster in frequent stop – start situations

2 wheels

  • are generally faster, especially on longer distances
  • handling is more similar to a conventional bicycle than that of a tricycle
  • allow you to ride faster in corners
  • are typically narrower, can therefore fit through a smaller gate, gap between two cars or be stored in a narrow space

Can any of your bikes carry an adult person?

Vast majority of our bikes will handle an adult person without a problem. Please refer to maximum load info displayed on each bike’s detail page.

Can my cargo bike be stored outdoors?

The safest option of course is to have your bike indoors behind locked doors. For many this is not possible or simply not practical. Our recommendation is to use a Motorcycle type chain or D-lock, insurance, lockable bike shelter and/or full fabric cover. All have their pros and cons, though a high quality lock is essential.
Always lock your bike in a busy place with a high quality lock tied to something that is at least as strong as your lock ie lamp post or a beefy fence.
